The Kelowna Adult Softball Association (KASA) was formally incorporated as a non-profit society in 1995. However, we have been promoting and advocating the interests of adult softball in the Kelowna area for more than 17 years.

KASA is an avid proponent of friendly co-operation between all local sports organizations and civic authorities. As founding members of the City of Kelowna's Sportsfield Advisory Executive Committee, KASA has initiated and influenced many of the policies and procedures pertaining to the development, design, maintenance, allocation and fee structures of most sportsfield facilities in our region.

KASA's directors are committed to improving the quality, number and availability of adult-sized softball fields in Kelowna. To that end and as an example of our many efforts, KASA now manages the beer garden/concession operations at the Mission Sportsfields Softball quadplex and hosts several very popular tournaments each year. All proceeds from these operations, our tournaments, and all other fund-raising activities are directed right back into softball facilities in Kelowna.

KASA has already made substantial contributions toward numerous improvements to local sports facilities. Our ongoing participation in the City of Kelowna ‘Partners In Parks’ program resulted in the re-construction and lighting of the two diamonds at the Southeast Kelowna/McCulloch Station softball complex. More recently, the new beer garden 'canopy', new sound system, new benches and chairs, new safe-base systems, improvements to the fences, dugouts and plaza, the 'quad-mobile', and the new storage systems at the Mission Softball complex are just a few of the initiatives that KASA--because of your much appreciated patronage of our concession, tournaments and other fund-raising ventures--has helped fund.

KASA is currently consulting with the City of Kelowna regarding the design and placement of at least two (and maybe three?) more full-sized, lit and fenced slo-pitch diamonds at the Mission District Park. Ground preparation for these diamonds--for which KASA has been lobbying for more than seven years--is already underway. They will be situated right across the road from the existing Mission quadplex and are expected to open for play by the Spring of 2008. We will be able to watch the progress of construction during the 2007 season.

However, we still need your continued and vocal support in convincing the powers-that-be that still more full-sized diamonds are needed to handle our ever-growing Adult Softball community. We will continue our discussions with the decision makers---but please know that a letter from you to your favourite city councilor would certainly help the cause.
Just think of the tournament possibilities once more fenced and lit, full-sized fields become available!!

Unfortunately, our largest single fund-raiser--the KASA Labour Day Klassic Slo-pitch Tournament--has been shelved for now because SPN decided to hold their Provincial playoffs on 'our' weekend. We will, of course, be bidding to host as many of these championships as SPN might see fit to award us... so you may still be visiting us on the Labour Day weekend.

We are also working with the local NSA reps to attract more of their teams and tournaments to Kelowna. You can do your part by reminding your respective association representatives that you would re-e-eally like to play your Qualifiers, Provincials and National Championships in Kelowna!!

Your KASA reps welcome your input and inquiries, and will be happy to provide information about local fastpitch and slo-pitch leagues, tournaments and events, officiating and all things pertaining to softball in the Kelowna area. Since our growing list of member associations includes the Kelowna and District Softball Umpires Association, we can also provide definitions for--and the interpretation of--all Softball Canada, SPN and NSA rules.

Thank you for your interest, participation and support.
